The Gonging Song
© Richard Chu / Oct. 7, 2011

I cried every time I heard the bugle sound
i sobbed each time i listened to the song

and there're people singing...
… There goes Robert E. Lee...
… the night they drove old dixie down...

I wept every time I heard the echoing rounds
of the church bell gong
from the valley ground
through the thicket of the misty crests
up on the Pacific highland of the town

I cracked each time when they sang the holy songs
of the Heavenly Almighty God

For the battles they have won and the crusades they've done
in his name

while I remembered Colonel Walter E. Kurtz saying

… We must kill them… army after army...
That's my dream; that's my nightmare…

The day they destroy the old world order, Christ!
in his name

I cried every time I heard them bugles sound
and the church bells gong

drizzling dreams

like a silver lining,
it hops out of the other side of the universal darkness
calling it another day
in heavens
